THE COLOMBIAN TOUCH

EL TOQUE COLOMBIANO

We are three generations of traditional cooks from Santanderes and the Colombian Caribbean coast. We are the grandmother, the daughter, and the granddaughter.

TATICO "GRANNY"

She is the eldest matron. Granny brings all her wisdom and cooking memories to us with enjoyable talks enlivened with coffee and "polvorosa"(traditional Colombian bun).We bring her shared knowledge for sharing on the blog.

CHORI  "TRADITIONAL COOK"

Cook from an early age for farm workers. Chori inherited folklore and culture of the savannahs of Sucre, Bolivar and cooking customs from Santanderes. She is an assiduous student of Colombian cuisine, not only from the oral tradition but also from the reading of researching works done by professionals on the subject.

HEIDY "TRADITIONAL PASTRY COOK"

She was seduced by the creole pastry by scraping Abuela's cauldron after she has prepared sweets that the family palates allowed. Heidy is a professional welding technician in love with and passionate for the sweet preparations of the Colombian gastronomy that has learned by family inheritance, preference and researching.

  1. My favorite candy is in Colombia...the Mexicans call it Jamoncillo. It is mound shaped with a raisin or pecan on top. I know the Colombians use rice flour in their recipe. I would love to know the name and have the recipe for this candy made with leche and azucar. My Father in Law, now deceased was from Baranquilla and always brought me this candy when he returned from Colombia. Thank you, kindly~
